When it comes to skin care, the word "peel" freaks me out. I imagine walking into a spa, getting a bunch of chemical filled creams slapped on my face and walking out looking like Freddy Krueger. If you've watched the movie Nightmare on Elm Street, you know who I'm talking about!
Considering I'm a chicken and don't want to get this treatment done professionally, I tried an at-home version from Dr.Jart+ that Nathalie gifted me for my birthday. Basically what this product claims to do is chemically exfoliate and leave you with radiant, smooth, and moisturized skin. Even after testing it once, I can confirm that it does all of the above.
First off, I love that this peel is incredibly gentle. When I applied it on my skin, I didn't feel a burning or tingling sensation as I expected. A minute later, I washed it off with warm water and was AMAZED with the results. My skin looked like plastic (in the best way possible). It was glowing, smooth, and felt baby soft. Although what surprised me the most is that it still felt incredibly hydrated. This is thanks to the coconut milk that's in the product, along with ingredients like squalene, panthenol, and allantoin. After doing some research, I realized that these properties create a moisture "barrier" on your skin. In addition to everything else, I love how this product made my skin feel overall. Living in a big city like Toronto, there's tons of pollutants and dust in the air that can clog your pores. This peel made me feel like I scraped off a layer of dirt and grime...So satisfying!
Overall, if you're looking for a chemical exfoliator that's quite gentle on the skin but packs a huge punch in terms of its exfoliating abilities, I HIGHLY recommend the Dr.Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Milk Peel. It retails for $56 at Sephora, which is on the pricey side but it's a great buy because it actually works.
