I would say that I'm a bit of a sheet mask snob. I find a handful that I love and only repurchase those because I know they work. However recently I challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone and pick up a variety from Sephora to put to the test. One is from Dr.Jart+, the other is from Too Cool For School and last but not least, is a Sephora brand mask that I've been wanting to try for ages.
To break things down for you, I decided to share my thoughts in mini categories starting with the formula of the serum, shape & texture of the mask and lastly, price.
Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask
Formula: This mask is formulated with coconut and egg extracts, which left me with extremely hydrated, smooth and glowing skin. I also have to mention that they didn't cheap out with the amount of serum in the packet, which is one of my pet peeves when it comes to sheet masks! If I'm paying $8 or more per mask, I want to know it's jam-packed with product. In this case, there's so much serum leftover I usually lather it on my hands or elbows.
Shape & texture: Out of all three masks, this one formed to my face the best. It didn't slide or move whatsoever, there wasn't a crazy excess amount of material, and I found the super soft and thick microfibre texture retained the serum really well.
Price: This mask retails for $8 CAD at Sephora. Considering the benefits are great and the mask itself is good quality, it definitely gets the Global Garçon stamp of approval.
Dr.Jar+ Water Replenishment Mask
Formula: I found this serum much lighter than the Too Cool For School sheet mask. As a result I didn't think it would be as moisturizing, but I was wrong. Although the serum had a watery and almost gel-like consistency, it absorbed into my skin super fast and hydrated extremely well. It also had an interesting cooling effect, which is great if your face is feeling bloated or if you've had a sodium-filled meal beforehand LOL.
Note: If you have oily/combination skin, I would opt with this one over the egg mask because the serum isn't as heavy.
Shape & texture: The texture of this sheet mask was soft and comfortable on the skin. Although after it was applied, I started to notice that little air pockets formed and portions of the mask started to wrinkle. By no means was this annoying or uncomfortable, it's just something I realized while I had it on.
Price: This sheet mask was the priciest of the three. At Sephora, it retails for $9 CAD.
Sephora Avocado Face Mask
Formula: The formula of the serum is quite light, yet it hydrated and left my skin feeling plump and refreshed. Now I wouldn't say it did wonders for my skin, but I would definitely use it again if I wanted a quick boost of hydration.
Shape & texture: This mask was the thinnest of the three. Regardless, I found it fit my face shape perfectly and didn't slide too much after it was applied.
Price: This mask also retails for $8 CAD at Sephora.
What's The Verdict?
After testing out three new sheet masks that I've never used before, I can definitely say that the Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask was my favourite. Following this mask, my second fave was the Dr.Jart+ Water Replenishment Mask, then the Sephora sheet mask. Overall, all three are great so if you have the opportunity to test them out definitely do so.
**Before you burst out laughing, I have to admit that taking glamorous photos wearing a sheet mask isn't easy! When I sent this photo to my BFF Nathalie, we both cracked up. Regardless, I decided to upload it anyways because...YOLO.
