The holidays can be a stressful time for a number of reasons. If you're a student like me, there's exams and final assignments to complete. If you work, often times there's end-of-year deadlines and tons of parties and events to attend. Then there's family events, shopping for Christmas gifts and the list goes on and on...
I don't know about you, but thinking about all of this holiday madness stresses me out! However the icing on top of the cake for me is thinking about all of the outfits that I need to formulate over the holiday season. Some of the questions I often ask myself are: Is there going to be a dress code? Can I sport the same, or a similar outfit twice? Am I dressed too casual? Am I dressed too fancy?
In order to avoid all of the unnecessary outfit-related stress this holiday season, I came up with a list of tips and tricks that are going make my life less stressful, and will hopefully make yours a little more stress-free too!
1. Go through your closet and dig out pieces you haven't worn in a while (but still love).
I'm all about re-wearing the same pieces multiple times. Just because you wear a piece once, definitely doesn't mean you can't sport it again! This is especially true around the holidays. With Christmas parties galore and various family events, it can save you a ton of money and will ensure you're making the most out of the pieces you've already purchased.
2. Plan, plan, plan!
Go through your closet ahead of time (key words: ahead of time) and think about what you might want to wear to each of your holiday events. In my opinion, planning your outfit the night before is a recipe for disaster, but if you plan early, you'll be less stressed and more prepared! This also gives you the opportunity to alter your looks well before the event.
3. Don't buy a piece just because you can. Buy it because you love it!
I find the holidays tends to encourage impulse shopping...You buy clothing or whatever it may be for the sake of buying it, not because you actually love it. In order to avoid this, take a step back and think to yourself, "Do I really need it?". If you're hesitant, step away and don't make the purchase. If you're unsure, sleep on it. If you really want it, you can always go back and make the purchase...I'm guilty of doing this too!
