As soon as summer transitions into fall, one of my favourite pieces to throw over a classic turtleneck is this Zadig & Voltaire bomber jacket. Although, now that the weather has gotten significantly colder recently, wearing bomber jackets in the cold can be quite the challenge. That's why I always keep two key things in mind before purchasing bomber jackets that I want to wear during the colder months...
1. What is the bomber jacket made of?
If warmth is one of your priorities, which it definitely is for me, avoid thin, breathable fabrics. Instead, spend a little more (if you can) and invest in a leather or wool bomber jacket. The thicker material will help retain your body heat and prevent wind and cool air from penetrating through the fabric.
2. Can you comfortably layer under the bomber jacket?
Before you buy a bomber jacket that you want to wear in the cold, always ask yourself, "If I layer underneath, would I still be comfortable?". If the answer is yes, then you're good to go. Personally, I love layering UNIQLO HEATTECH underneath my sweater or turtleneck, then I throw my bomber jacket overtop. Adding extra layers under your bomber jacket is one of the easiest ways to stay warm on chilly days.
