To celebrate Movember, I partnered with L'Occitane to showcase a handful of products from their Cade collection. These products are perfect if you're planning to get rid of your facial hair at the end of the month, or if you're looking to give an awesome gift! Just to refresh your memory, Movember is an annual event that involves growing your facial hair to raise awareness for testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and men's health issues overall.
Now you might be wondering why I decided to write a post on men's shaving products when I don't have much facial hair myself. Personally I'm a huge fan of L'Occitane (as I'm sure many of you know), and I'm always up for working with brands to celebrate and support a good cause. That being said, I'm featuring four products from their Cade collection that are formulated with Cade essential oils. This ingredient is formulated from a plant that grows around the Mediterranean and claims to fight and protect your skin against natural/outdoor elements. Here is a little overview on four of their products...
Cade Shaving Cream
This shaving cream is formulated with Cade essential oils, rosemary, sandalwood, shea butter, bisabolol extract and glycerin. Although I haven't tested this product on my face, I have to say that the scent is super pleasant. It smells earthy, yet fresh and reminds me of autumn (if that makes sense...). Based on the countless reviews I've read online, it seems like this product lathers well and moisturizes your skin, which is always a plus when it comes to shaving products.
Cade After-Shave Balm
This after-shave balm is formulated with shea butter and birchwood sap extract to help calm your skin after shaving. Apparently it prevents and soothes any redness, razor burns and doesn't leave your skin feeling tight. I don't know about you, but I can't stand that feeling!
After applying this balm on the back of my hand, I was super impressed with the texture. It isn't heavy, or too light, but it's super moisturizing, glides onto the skin and absorbs quite well.
Cade Shaving Oil
This oil essentially preps your facial hair and skin for the shaving process by softening your beard. According to L'Occitane's website, it "creates a protective barrier between the razor blade and the skin to allow a smooth, close glide without the irritations".
Because this product is an oil, I was curious if it would wash off the skin with minimal effort. When I applied it on my hand and used warm water to wash it off, I was impressed because it didn't leave a slick, oily "barrier" that many oil-based products tend to leave.
Cade Eau de Toilette
Last but not least is the Cade Eau de Toilette. What I love about this fragrance is the earthy and almost woody notes that it has, making it perfect for autumn. The top notes in this fragrance are bergamot, cedar wood and pink pepper. The base notes are cade and citrus.
Normally I'm not a huge fan of woody or earthy smelling fragrances, but I had to make an acceptation for this one. It isn't overpowering or overly spicy, and it lingers on your skin and clothes all day long without being overpowering.
